The stovetop gets grimy quickly and the crusted bits of food can be tough to remove! Our steps can help you get your stove top clean, grime-free, and ready to use again. Here’s how:

First, some important tips:

· Stay Safe! Don’t clean any of these surfaces while they’re still hot!

· Less is More – Avoid the temptation to apply thick coats of cleaning solution and abrasive cleaners. Instead, try removing the debris simply with warm water, and then use a mixture of warm water and a small amount of mild dish detergent. Work your way up from there in terms of the intensity of the cleaning solution. Avoid steel wool, abrasive detergents, etc., as these can damage your stove top.

· Manufacturer’s Instructions – Always consult the manufacturer’s instructions before using a cleaning product on your stove top. Certain ranges require specific types of cleaning solutions, and you don’t want to inadvertently void your warranty.

Electric Stove:

1. Remove the coils and bowls. Give all coils and bowls a good wipe down with hot water and mild dish soap. Use a wet sponge or towel to be sure all cleaning solution is removed after cleaning.

2. Open the stovetop and wipe the entire area with a damp sponge. Then return the bowls and coils.

3. Wipe down the surface, knobs, and other areas with a clean, damp cloth.

Gas Stove:

1. Turn off your gas.

2. Fill the kitchen sink with hot water and a few squirts of dish soap.

3. Remove the grates and set them in the sink to soak.

4. TIP: If the grates have significant buildup and baked-on gunk, you can first take them outside, lay them on newspapers, and douse them with oven cleaner (according to the manufacturer’s instructions). Let the cleaner sit on the grates for adequate time (again, according to the manufacturer’s instructions) in order to break down the buildup and make it easier to remove. Once the worst of the buildup is removed, you can then set the grates in the sink to soak.

5. Wash the grates in the sink using a sponge. Once clean, set them on a towel to dry.

6. Soak a cloth in the hot, soapy water and then lay it over any buildup or spills on the range. After a few minutes, take the cloth away and scrape away the loosened gunk using a sponge or rubber scraper.

7. Check the fuel ports on the range for buildup. Wipe away the buildup using a damp cloth. Or, you can choose to carefully remove the buildup with a toothpick.

8. Use a damp cloth to wipe the surface, dials, and other areas of the stovetop. Follow with a dry cloth.

9. Dry the grates and replace them.

10. Be sure all areas of the range are adequately dry, and then turn the gas back on.
