Of course a clean home looks better than a dirty home, and when your home is sparkling you will certainly be proud of it. However, did you know that keeping your home clean can actually save you money? This is probably something you have not thought of before. You are most likely thinking, “how could cleaning possibly be a money saver?” It is a good question. Here are the answers.

The AC Filter

Many people forget about it or they put it off for another week or so, but the air conditioning filter should be cleaned regularly. Did you know that by keeping your AC filter clean, you could potentially save up to twenty dollars a month? That is a great deal of savings when you add it all up for the year.

The Refrigerator Coils

When is the last time you looked at the back of your refrigerator? You may be surprised at just how dirty those coils get. Of course, you will want them to be clean for the sake of your home, but that is not all. When the coils of your refrigerator get clogged, they reduce the energy efficiency immensely. By cleaning the coils on a regular basis, you can save dollars on your energy bill.

The Vacuum Cleaner

Did you know that your vacuum cleaner also needs to be cleaned? If you do not clean it, it can get clogged up and its lifespan can be severely shortened. However, if you keep the vacuum clean (in the canister, in the rollers, and in the filter), you can extend its life for years. Just imagine the hundreds of dollars you could save from not having to buy a new vacuum every few years.

The Cleaning Supplies

Most likely, you spend a great deal of money on cleaning supplies every month. You may not need to spend all of that money every time though. You probably have regular household items in your cupboard that will work just as well at keeping your home clean. Here are some suggestions:

  • Baking soda and water is a great way to clean the counters in the kitchen and bathroom as well as the kitchen appliance surfaces.

  • A simple pencil eraser will get up scuff marks on the floor.

  • Toothpaste is a great way to shine silver.

  • A pumice stone for your feet can be used to get stains off the porcelain toilet bowl.

You may not have realized how much money you can save by keeping your house clean. But with these simple steps, you can put money right back in your wallet.
