Kids and a clean home tend to be opposite of each other. In reality, your children can learn some of the basic skills needed to make sure your Jacksonville home is tidier and kept together. Some of the common house cleaning services that your children can learn is outlined below.

Doing the Laundry

Kids as young as two can begin learning to sort clothes. Young kids will often feel that sorting clothing is a game. Older toddlers can aid in putting clothes away. Children who are school-aged can begin learning how to fold laundry and putting clothes into and out of the washer and dryer with adult supervision. By the time kids are between eight and 10 years of age, they are mature enough to have full responsibility for loading and unloading the washer and dryer. If you begin teaching these skills when they are young, they will understand the entire process of doing laundry by the time they are 10 or 11.

It may seem like washing dishes is a never-ending chore. When you train your children properly, they can be a big help in getting the dishes clean. Regardless of whether you are teaching children to wash dishes by hand or use the dishwasher, the best way to begin is with scraping and rinsing. Five to six year olds can be taught how to do this, while seven to eight year olds can help dry and put the dishes away. By the time children are nine, they should be able to load the dishwasher and wash various types of dishes. Make sure and teach them the proper safety principles.

Making the Bed

Just because you teach them how to do it, doesn’t mean your children are going to do it. Begin by teaching children how to make their own beds from toddler age. Step up to letting them make it on their own. Choosing bedding that is less complicated for little ones helps to simplify the process. Eliminate extra sheets, pillows and blankets from the equation, especially when children tend not to use them anyway.

Sweeping the Floor

Even though it might seem simple enough to drag a broom across the floor; it isn’t always as simple to be effective in completing the task. It takes time and practice to get it right. If you give a child a broom, you are probably going to see a bunch of dirt flying all over the place except into a nice pile in the middle of the room. Even with all of the new gadgets on the market today, learning to use a standard broom is an exceptional skill. By the time children are seven to eight years of age, they can begin learning how to sweep floors. Younger children can hold onto a dust pan for them to sweep the dirt into.

Mopping the Floor

When it comes to this type of house cleaning, it should be left to those children who are school-aged. By the time children are nine to 10 years old, they should be capable of mopping without a great deal of supervision. Teach the children how to prepare the mop water, wring the mop out, when it’s time to rinse the head, how to clean tough spots, how to rinse the bucket and mop and how to store the mop. Make sure you provide them with instructions on how to mop the various types of floor materials you have throughout your Jacksonville home.

Eliminate the Clutter

One of the best skills children can be taught is one that is difficult for a number of adults to grasp. Teaching children the proper methods for de-cluttering from a young age can create habits for them that they are going to carry throughout their lives. Let children who are reluctant watch you clean your own personal stuff out. Share clutter questions that helps you to determine what it is that you want to keep. Some children will be motivated to donate their used items to those who are less fortunate. Other children are more motivated to sell their items to save up money for something that they really want.

Even though it might seem daunting at first, you can teach your children proper house cleaning services in no time. From something as simple as putting their toys away to doing laundry, washing the dishes and making their beds, you can teach your kids how to clean. Take the time to teach them from a young age and the benefits will outweigh the time.
