The Kids are off to School; Now’s the Time to Clean your Carpets

Oct 12, 2013 12:33:00 PM

Spring is usually considered the best time for cleaning house. However, when school starts and the kids are gone, there is no better time to begin some of those home cleaning projects that took a back seat to the summer. The primary part of your home that should benefit during this period is your carpeting.

Cleaning Process

carpet cleaning company Jacksonville Most companies will tell you to vacuum your carpets before you cleaning. First Coast Home Pros will do the pre-vacuuming for you. The application process is called the CHAT system. That means FCHP applies Chemicals, Heat, Agitation, and Time. This method is used in balanced measures. FCHP uses intense steam cleaning on your carpeting. Despite what other companies may try to tell you, it is the manufacturers who prefer their product to be cleaned by hot water extraction, or steam. Only the newest equipment, exclusive to First Coast Home Pros, is used, and it provides the hottest water, deepest penetration, and most intense suction that can be found anywhere in the business.

When Is The Best Time To Refinish My Deck?

May 22, 2013 2:28:55 AM

Outdoor PatioWhen you have a lovely wooden deck, you can host wonderful picnics there for your family and friends during summers. However, the harsh winter might have left your deck in need of some work. If the exposed wood needs to be refinished, the late spring is the best time to do it, because soon enough it will be too hot to work in the sun.

Now is the right time for re-staining your deck, just in time for hosting all the picnics and barbeques you want. You can enjoy the spring sunshine and make it a weekend project. You will have the satisfaction of having done something around the home yourself, rather than paying someone else to do it. Every time you use the deck, you will feel the thrill of having done something for your home. Refinishing a deck is a simple task, and can be done in a weekend.

Picking the Product

Many experts feel that one of the best products for staining the deck is a solid stain. That’s because it offers the most UV protection from the sun's damaging rays. It is essential to choose a good quality stain that will withstand the rigors of the climate when it is exposed to it. In places where the summers are hot and the winters are cold, or there is excessive humidity and rainfall, it is essential to select the best protection possible. If you choose a good stain for your staining of the deck, there is a good chance that it will last for several years before maintenance coats are required.

Keeping Your Gutters Clean...

Feb 21, 2013 6:31:06 AM

Cleaning the gutters on your home can be about as exciting as unclogging a toilet.  Most feel this way about cleaning their gutters because of how time consuming and messy it can be. The simple act of moving a ladder becomes exhausting when you have to do it a hundred times, only to shift it a few feet, to reach more piled up gunk and debris. The size of your home can also make this task drag on for hours and often times into the next day. Who wants to spend their weekends doing that??

New Ways to Welcome the New Year

Jan 15, 2013 4:45:30 AM

Looking for unique ways to ring in this New Year? Keep reading for some truly original ideas!
December 31st will be here in the blink of an eye! Out with the old and in with the new! If you are looking for unique ways to ring in the New Year with your significant other, then we have a few suggestions you might want to try.

  • Plan a progressive party with your friends! This gives you the perfect opportunity to get dressed up and break out your fine china and crystal. Visit one home for appetizers, another for salad, still another for the main course, make a final stop for dessert, and then go to watch the ball drop.

  • Kidnap your significant other. Take your best friend, nab your husbands, and head out for the weekend to a special location, like a bed and breakfast. Tell your spouse that you are just going to dinner and then watch the look on their face when they see you driving away from town! If stealing away for the weekend is not feasible, then you can spring for a babysitter, hand him his suit, and take him out for a fancy dinner or night on the town.

  • Host your own pajama party. This is ideal if you have friends with kids or kids of your own. Have the kids (and adults too!) come dressed for bed. Your home can be decorated with inexpensive streamers, balloons, and other items. Have a cake ready with candles to blow out at midnight (or the hour you choose to be “midnight”). Other ideas for entertainment include serving caffeine free beverages, watching kid friendly movies, and playing board games.

  • Celebrate New Year’s in a different time zone. For example, if you live in Tennessee, you can host a New York themed party. Put on a soundtrack with your favorite Broadway show tunes, serve NY cheesecake, and decorate with plenty of glittering and sparkling lights. You can even have your own “ball” to drop at the appointed hour.

  • Finally, if late night celebrations aren’t really your thing, consider hosting a New Year’s Day brunch. There is nothing wrong with welcoming in the New Year during daytime hours. Invite your closest friends and family members and make it a private celebration to remember. This is a sincere and genuine way to give thanks for all you have experienced in the past year.

The Cleaning We Always Forget to Do

May 18, 2012 4:33:13 AM

No matter how clean we think our home is, there are always tasks that we forget about if they don’t scream “clean me” every day the way dirty dishes and cluttered floors do. It is only when we visit others that we are reminded, for our eyes seem automatically drawn to the lonely spider web in the top corner of a room, the dust and dead flies in the overhead light fixture when it gets turned on or the layers of dust on the ceiling fan blades when they are at rest.
